La Cravate Solidaire is an association that fights against physical discrimination in hiring. It enables people in precarious situations who are looking for a job to benefit from free professional clothing accompanied by image and interview coaching. To support them, the Foundation financed 80 training courses for senior citizens. The employees also organized a clothing drive.
Second hand for a second chance.
La Cravate Solidaire's observation is simple: there is still far too much discrimination in hiring based on physical appearance. Born in Paris, the association accompanies people in (re)integration everywhere in France towards the success of their professional projects. This is done through "Coups De Pouce" workshops that boost candidates and give them back their confidence. The workshop takes place in 4 key steps:
Welcoming the candidate
Image coaching (offer of an ideal outfit for an interview)
HR coaching (recruitment exercise)
The photo session (for the CV).
The clothes offered are second hand and volunteers help the candidates to find their clothes.
Training for seniors:
Sometimes people over 50 find themselves unemployed. That's why we wanted to fund 80 Helping Hand courses for older unemployed people who are too young to retire.
This is the case of Brigitte who benefited from the actions of the Cravate on October 5th. Here is her testimony : Click here.
A collection at Damart on the boulevard de Fourmies :
The employees also wanted to get involved in this project and to go further than the donation for the training courses. That's why one of the godmothers of the association (Florine Herlin) organized a collection of clothes in the Damart premises to support the Cravate. On November 29th the weighing took place and 43 kilograms of clothes were collected. A beautiful action of solidarity which helps the beneficiaries of the Lille metropolis for their future interviews.
