The On Seniors' Side Foundation has enabled the Olivier des Sages to benefit from a dishwasher for one of its many workshops. This saves time and energy and allows them to fully enjoy the activity.

The Olivier des Sages, a 3 in 1 association: Located in Lyon's 3rd arrondissement, volunteers meet at L'Olivier des Sages to support seniors (especially those from immigrant backgrounds) and maintain their social ties. Seniors can meet in the Kfé social Philippe Jeantet to ask for administrative help and participate in activities organized by the association. A Social & Solidarity grocery store has been set up to relieve destitute seniors. The grocery store offers a supply of basic necessities (food, hygiene, maintenance) with a financial participation of 10 to 30% of the real cost. It also offers weekly workshops to its members with the aim of informing and preventing the beneficiaries on budget management.

An intergenerational cooking workshop, a transmission of knowledge for the young people of Lyon: Every first Tuesday of the month, a cooking workshop is organized by the association. Young people come to exchange and spend a special moment with the seniors while cooking a meal. They choose the recipe together, go to the grocery store to get the products, cook and above all share a meal (starter, main course, dessert) and their life experiences. This is an enriching moment for the young people, who learn about the past of the elderly, but also for the seniors who can pass on their knowledge and strengthen their social ties. The Foundation financed a workshop and a washing machine. Still washing dishes by hand, the machine allows for better organization, anticipation of the workshops and above all a saving of time and energy!

Bernadette Mbala has been a member of the Olivier des Sages association for 5 years. Formerly a health mediator, she was involved in the association as a volunteer to help with the administrative part. Retired today, she participates in the workshops: "Thank you very much for the dishwasher. It helps us a lot! We go much faster, because before we did everything by hand. Concerning the workshops, we have three small groups to work on the different meals and the young people take over the kitchen and really play the game! It's always nice to get together for a workshop: it's a moment of exchange and conviviality! It's more fun than being alone in front of your TV... Thanks again for the dishwasher, we spend more time with the young people and it's always a pleasure to participate in this workshop with them.
