Marrion Heard (Coopers)
Why did you become a correspondent for you BU? What are your motivations?
I have the privilege of meeting our seniors every day within the Coopers Store. The loneliness and the isolation they feel in their lives is what drives me to get involved with the foundation and support our local community.
What is your role as a Damart Correspondent?
Encouraging everyone to get involved in what is a great opportunity to support local causes.
What’s in it for you?
A sense of ‘making a difference ‘in our everyday lives. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact on those in need. It’s important for me the company I work for, embraces Charitable work as part of its culture.
Do you have a story to share about the foundation?
I have recently met a group of bereaved seniors who meet once a month for tea and biscuits. I spent time talking to several of the group members, these were difficult conversations to hear, the sadness from their loss and how their lives are forever changed. What struck me most, was how lonely they are with no family to support them. The Foundation creates an opportunity to give support.
