DSB, one of our entities, has contributed 5500€ to the purchase of an electric tricycle equipped with a nomadic hotspot and an antenna, allowing 4G to be connected everywhere. It is designed to carry digital equipment such as tablets and educational laptops on board, designed to simplify use and make it as intuitive as possible. It will sail through Roubaix one morning a week, initially.

The project has several objectives:

  • Fighting the isolation of the elderly.
  • Promote access to rights through the fight against "electronic illiteracy".
  • Enhance partnerships between actors of the territory.

In fact, today in France, 4 million people aged 60 and over never use the Internet, i.e. 27% of this age group (study launched by the Little Brothers of the Poor with the CSA Institute (September 2018). This isolation has been considerably exacerbated by the waves of Covid-19 and may have its origin in the absence of digital equipment but also, and very often, in a lack of knowledge of new technologies.

Where to find the digibike?

The mill districts, Potennerie, Pile and Saint-Elisabeth will host the first experiment.
Indeed, more than 17% of the inhabitants of these districts are 55 years old or older, 50% of them live alone.
